In the summer and autumn of 2022 Marjolein Witte and I collaborated for our joint installation ‘Living Space’. The installation was on show in the art space Heejsteck# – a former haystack rebuilt into an exhibition space by Jaap Sleper. The exhibition was part of the art manifestation CareFull – an art route with many locations scattered across Utrecht.
“Living Space is an installation in which we engage in a visual dialogue with each other about the relational dependency between humans, city, and nature. During a series of walks through the city of Utrecht, we collected images about urban space as a living organism. Through an abstract and playful approach towards the concepts of nature and architecture, a dialogue emerges between wild and tamed, grown and constructed, intuitive and planned. Where do architecture and nature meet and how do the two behave when they cross paths?”
